Privacy Policy
Heka for iPhone · Last updated October 29, 2026
Heka has no servers and no accounts. We, the makers of Heka, never receive your voice, your text, your keys or anything about how you use the app.
Your voice
When you dictate, Heka streams your audio directly from your iPhone to the transcription service you picked, AssemblyAI or Soniox, using your own API key. That service turns the audio into text and sends it back. Its handling of the audio is covered by its own privacy policy and your agreement with it.
Your text
If you turn on AI cleanup, the transcript and your custom dictionary are sent directly to Anthropic, using your own Anthropic API key, to fix punctuation and wording. With cleanup off, nothing is sent to Anthropic.
Your consent
Nothing is sent anywhere until you tap Allow on Heka's data sharing screen. You can withdraw that at any time in Heka → Settings → Data sharing.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your API keys, stored in the iPhone Keychain.
- Your settings, dictionary and usage stats.
- The Heka keyboard does not record or send what you type. Typed text never leaves your device through Heka.
What we don't do
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no data sale, no third-party SDKs.
Children
Heka is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
